FiboSearch Review (2026): Free vs Pro, Speed & Pricing
FiboSearch is a WooCommerce product-search plugin that adds live autocomplete, SKU search, product images, prices and instant suggestions while customers type. It replaces WooCommerce’s basic search experience with a faster, more ecommerce-focused interface.
Updated September 2026: FiboSearch Free is currently version 1.34.2, with more than 100,000 active installations and WordPress 7.1 compatibility. The Pro edition has also received several security and compatibility updates during 2026, while FiboSearch 2.0 is now in early-access development.
FiboSearch in 2026: what changed?
- FiboSearch 1.34.x: the current stable line remains actively maintained for modern WordPress and WooCommerce.
- Security updates: 2026 releases fixed issues involving protected products, search-result thumbnails and stored XSS in suggestions, so keeping the plugin current matters.
- More integrations: recent releases added support for WooCommerce Single Variations and JetSmartFilters custom queries.
- FiboSearch 2.0: the developer is rebuilding the search architecture and settings experience, with early access open to store owners and developers.
- Search + filtering direction: the 2.0 roadmap points toward a shared discovery experience where product search and filtering understand the same data and rules.

What is FiboSearch?
Default WooCommerce search is intentionally simple. FiboSearch adds the kind of search experience shoppers expect from a modern ecommerce store: as-you-type suggestions, product thumbnails, prices, SKU matching, categories and mobile-friendly search.
The search bar can be added as a block, shortcode, menu item, widget or directly through PHP. FiboSearch also has one-click replacements for many popular themes, including Storefront, Divi, Flatsome, OceanWP, Astra, Avada and dozens more.
FiboSearch Free vs Pro
What FiboSearch Free includes
- Live AJAX product suggestions.
- Search by product title, description, short description and SKU.
- Product images, prices, descriptions and SKU in suggestions.
- Product categories and tags as suggestions.
- Mobile-first search overlay.
- Search history.
- Details panel with product data and optional add-to-cart controls.
- Block, shortcode, menu and widget embedding.
The free version is not restricted to a 100-product catalog. Our older review incorrectly suggested that Pro becomes mandatory above 100 products. That is not how current FiboSearch licensing or functionality works.
What FiboSearch Pro adds
- Inverted-index search engine designed for significantly faster results on larger catalogs.
- Fuzzy search for minor spelling mistakes.
- Synonyms for matching alternative product language.
- Custom-field search, including dedicated ACF support.
- Attribute search such as size, color or material.
- Brand search with several WooCommerce brand systems.
- Variation-SKU search.
- Posts and pages in autocomplete.
- Conditional product exclusions.
- Priority implementation/support.
The developer states that Pro can be up to 10× faster than Free in some stores, with an average search request around 0.2 seconds. Treat that as a product benchmark rather than a guarantee for every hosting stack.
Is FiboSearch Pro necessary for large WooCommerce catalogs?
Pro becomes more attractive as the catalog grows because it uses its own inverted search index rather than relying on the simpler free search approach. The current Personal plan is licensed for up to 10,000 products, Entrepreneur for up to 50,000 products per site, and Agency for up to 150,000 products per site.
FiboSearch says the engine can technically work with catalogs up to around one million products, although official support does not extend to catalogs above the plan limits and the developer suggests considering dedicated SaaS search at extreme scale.
For a small store, Free may be completely sufficient. Upgrade when search speed, fuzzy matching, attributes, brands, custom fields or catalog scale justify it, not simply because the store has more than a specific small number of products.
Mobile search experience
FiboSearch includes a dedicated mobile search mode that can take over the screen when shoppers tap the search field or icon. This is useful because desktop-style dropdowns often become cramped or difficult to use on phones.
For ecommerce, this matters more than decorative search styling. Customers should be able to search, recognize the right product and move toward checkout without fighting a tiny interface.
SKU, variation and attribute search
SKU search is one of the most practical improvements over default WooCommerce search. It is particularly useful for B2B stores, spare parts, electronics and catalogs where customers already know a product code.
Pro goes further by supporting exact variation-SKU matching, custom fields and product attributes. A shopper can therefore search for data such as a model code, color or other indexed attribute rather than only the visible product title.
Fuzzy search and synonyms
Fuzzy search helps when a customer makes a small spelling mistake. Synonyms solve a different problem: customers may use different words for the same product.
For example, a store can connect related terms such as “sneakers” and “trainers,” or internal product terminology with the words customers actually use. These features are Pro-only and can make a meaningful difference for stores where vocabulary varies.
Search analytics
Search analytics can reveal what customers are trying to buy, which searches return nothing and whether the store’s product naming matches the language shoppers use.
This data is useful beyond search itself. Repeated zero-result queries can expose missing products, missing synonyms, poor merchandising language or opportunities for new landing pages and product categories.
How FiboSearch indexing works
FiboSearch Pro maintains its own independent index. It is built automatically and updates as products, terms and attributes change, so normal product editing does not require manually rebuilding the index after every change.
This dedicated index is a major reason Pro scales better than traditional WordPress database searches on larger stores.
Theme and plugin compatibility
FiboSearch has accumulated a large integration layer because WooCommerce search can be affected by themes, multilingual plugins, visibility rules, dynamic pricing and product-variation plugins.
Current integrations include popular themes and builders plus tools such as TranslatePress, WPML, product-visibility plugins, WooCommerce brand systems, single-variation plugins and JetSmartFilters.
If your store uses complex B2B pricing, multilingual catalogs or custom product visibility, test those combinations on staging before changing the live search system.
Keep FiboSearch updated
FiboSearch Pro received several security fixes in 2026. Recent releases addressed password-protected products appearing in certain search cases and XSS issues in thumbnails or suggestion data.
Those issues have been fixed in maintained releases, but they reinforce an important point: search plugins process user input and product data continuously, so they should not be left on old versions simply because the search bar still appears to work.
FiboSearch 2.0 is in development
FiboSearch 2.0 is currently in early access rather than the stable release line. The developer describes it as a major rearchitecture of WooCommerce search with a redesigned settings experience and a longer-term goal of making search and product filtering work from the same underlying product-discovery model.
For production stores, we would stay on the stable release unless you specifically want to test early-access builds on staging and provide feedback.
FiboSearch Pro pricing in 2026
Current first-year pricing is:
- Personal: $59 first year, 1 site, up to 10,000 products.
- Entrepreneur: $99 first year, 3 sites, up to 50,000 products per site.
- Agency: $249 first year, 25 sites, up to 150,000 products per site.
The current pricing page advertises renewals at 15% below the first-year price: $50.15, $84.15 and $211.65 per year respectively. Plans include the Pro feature set, updates and support, with a 30-day unconditional money-back guarantee.
If you stop renewing, FiboSearch says the existing Pro installation continues working, but you lose updates and support. Check the official FiboSearch pricing page before purchasing.
Who should use FiboSearch?
- Small WooCommerce stores: start with Free if title/SKU autocomplete covers your needs.
- Large catalogs: Pro’s independent index is the main reason to upgrade.
- B2B and parts stores: SKU, variation and custom-field search are particularly valuable.
- Stores with terminology problems: fuzzy search and synonyms can improve discovery.
- Complex WooCommerce stacks: FiboSearch has broad integration support, but test custom pricing/visibility rules carefully.

Final thoughts
FiboSearch remains a strong upgrade over default WooCommerce search in 2026. The free edition is useful for many stores and should not be dismissed simply because a catalog exceeds 100 products.
Pro makes the strongest case when search itself becomes a conversion tool: larger catalogs, fuzzy matching, synonyms, attributes, brands, custom fields and variation SKUs all benefit from the dedicated indexed search engine.
With FiboSearch 2.0 already in early development, the product is also moving toward a broader search-and-filter discovery platform. For now, the stable 1.x line remains the appropriate choice for production stores.
